Before my journey into the world of UX design, I earned a B.A in Psychology from San Jose State University. While I was earning my degree I was also competing as a full-time Division 1 collegiate athlete on the swimming and diving team.
I have qualified for the U.S Open, Winter Nationals, and National Invitational Championship as well as received all-mountain west honors in two of my best sprint events. Additionally, I had the honor of being voted one of three team captains my senior season.
This experience has shown me that I am an individual that thrives in the presence of a challenge, but will never underestimate the importance of working collaboratively with your team in order to reach your goals.
Prior to entering the field of UX design, I started my profession working in roles that were directly related to my Psychology degree. During my studies I focused on areas such as human learning, development, cognition, Applied Behavior Analysis, and Abnormal Psychology.
This skillset led me to work as a Registered Behavior Technician for children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder.
While I am passionate about human learning, cognition, and behavior, I felt I was wanting to pursue a career that allowed me more creative freedom.
Combining my knowledge of people’s emotions, behaviors, and learning processes with my interest in a career with a creative outlet, I found myself finally pursuing my true passion, UX design!
I take my previous knowledge in human learning and behavior and apply it to my user research. I am committed to using a user-centered approach to my design process in order to create intuitive designs that accurately represent a user’s emotions, motivations, frustrations, and expectations.
